Boingo Wireless, Inc. (NASDAQ:WIFI), the Wi-Fi industry’s leading provider of software and services worldwide, has released an international version of its popular Boingo Wi-Fi Credits app on the iTunes App Store.

The Wi-Fi Credits app makes it easy to buy Wi-Fi access at Boingo hotspots in one-hour increments using an iTunes account. Using Apple’s iTunes billing system, the Wi-Fi Credits app further simplifies the process by billing in the user’s local currency so they can avoid conversion charges from their credit card provider.

“The Wi-Fi Credits app creates an easy way for iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch users outside the US to buy short bursts of Wi-Fi on an as needed basis, with the convenience of billing it to their existing iTunes account,” said Dawn Callahan, vice president of consumer marketing, for Boingo Wireless.

Boingo has set the base price for a global one-hour Wi-Fi credit at £2.99; the App Store will automatically convert that price based on Apple’s predefined matrix of currency conversion rates. For example, Apple’s iTunes store converts this to €3.99 for users with iTunes accounts that bill in Euros and ¥450 for accounts that bill in Yen.
